after apple released java 1.6 for mac os x today to the public i got curious to see how my processing (v0135) sketches/apps worked with the new version.

unfortunately once you switch to 1.6 in your java preferences, processings opengl throws java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkErrors
after messing around with it for a while i discovered that you had to upgrade to the latest nightly jogl build to make it work…

until the processing team releases a fixed version use this updated library to solve your mac p5/opengl issues.
(simply replace the old opengl folder in your ./Processing 0135/libraries/ directory) » opengl-mac-java1.6-fix.zip

The IAVIA Automatic on exhibit at LASALLE, College of The Arts, Singapore.

During the exhibit, the IAVIA Automatic captured 10,000 images of people interacting with it.

video that puts typography to a dialogue of the movie Rebel without a cause.

The hand-style typography was buid with processing, and the final editing was done with after effects.

PikaPika is a refreshing project from Japan, that use “long time exposure” pictures of the city at night. With colorful lights they draw characters and animations, some a little bit like games, into the night. Finally they make videos and little stories out of it. Cute colors, drawn into the night. I also enjoyed this videoclip with this uplifting music.

A while ago (I think it was in 2005) I was working on rendering words and short sentences in Processing and made this little piece.

The system is really basic: a bunch of circles moving around the screen, when they overlap with each other, they draw a line to the center of the circle they just overlapped with.I’ve been working on a new in-store projection for COS where I’ve evolved this approach a bit - more on this soon.

I have a piece in the San Francisco International Film Festival. Weird, right? They have a thing called Generator which is an amalgam of a bunch of digital art shorts. My Advanced Beauty piece is in there, along side the works of Lia, Toxi, Watz, and several others. Thanks to Matt Pyke for entering it. I think he entered it. I didn’t.

Just added a Twitter feed to my blog. I’ve been resisting for a while now, but finally gave in. I like how I can just grab bits and pieces of conversations, emails, code, ideas, documentation and so on, and throw them into the mix. And the size is right. Let’s try to give it a few weeks before giving up again. That, or before I plug my randomizer into Twitter… hey there’s an idea.
